The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) have given their stamp of recognition to a new fitness qualification from Pearson – one of the UK’s largest awarding organisations.

Pearson have announced that 4 brand new BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Sport suites are available to teach right away. This includes the Sport, Fitness and Personal Training qualification, which meets the membership entry requirements for REPs and means learners can join the UK’s largest register of fitness professionals after graduating from the course.

Certification is a fantastic entry point to the health and fitness profession, allowing progression to roles such as Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer.

The new suites are geared towards exciting, fast-growing areas of the sport industry, and have all been developed to meet industry standards, giving learners the best possible chance of a successful career.

The other three suites are:

  • Sports Coaching and Development – leading to employment opportunities such as Multi-Skilled Coach.
  • Sport and Outdoor Activities – leading to a career as an Outdoor Activities Instructor. Learners must complete 20 hours of work experience.
  • Sporting Excellence and Performance – for athletes on their journey to becoming a professional.

These new sport qualifications have been developed with the help of professional bodies, employers and higher education centres to prepare learners for work and university. The qualifications attract UCAS points and are internally assessed (not on DfE performance tables). With the addition of some larger units (180 GLH), these qualifications allow for holistic assessment delivery, mirroring a real-world environment. Take a look at the FAQs for more information about them.

These qualifications are in addition to Pearson’s existing portfolio of BTEC Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications for Sport.
