National awarding organisation, NCFE, has redeveloped its Level 2 Gym Instructing and Level 3 Personal Training qualifications to meet the UK’s fitness industry standards, which have now been approved by PD:Approval – the independent quality assurance organisation providing endorsement services for the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs).
These qualifications will allow more of NCFE’s learners to access the UK’s largest register of fitness professionals and gain international recognition through the International Confederation of Registers of Exercise Professionals (ICREPs):
NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing 603/3931/7
NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training 603/3491/5
NCFE has also released new qualifications that can be added by members as continuing professional development (CPD) and would award them REPs' CPD points and increase their insurance cover:
NCFE Level 2 Award in Instructing Circuit Training - 603/3934/2
NCFE Level 2 Award in Instructing Kettlebell Training - 603/3935/4
NCFE Level 2 Award in Instructing Group Cycling - 603/3936/6

NCFE Qualifications Developer, Kirsty Wesencraft-Robson, said:
“Releasing our new and updated qualifications is an important step for NCFE and our learners can have confidence that they meet the highest standards in the UK and across the globe. We’re thrilled to have the REPs badge of recognition and look forward to our continuing work with REPs in 2019 and beyond.”
Commercial Director for UK Coaching – which owns REPs – Andy Whiting, said:
“It’s great for REPs to recognise a suite of qualifications from one of the UK’s largest awarding organisations, which has heavily invested in education and training.
“Graduates of NCFE’s Gym and Personal Trainer qualifications will be able to join REPs, accessing insurance and recognised CPD courses.
“By joining REPs they will be able to access the numerous member benefits and gain the confidence of the general public and employers, who recognise REPs members as fully qualified fitness professionals.
“We look forward to working with NCFE on any future qualifications they are developing with the fitness industry and its professionals in mind.”
Members of REPs receive benefits such as insurance; access to quality assured continuing professional development, exclusive access to the GymCube personal training app and are able to work internationally through ICREPs.
