A hugely successful 2nd Welsh National Convention, brought to you in association with the Welsh Assembly Government Public Health Department, was held on Friday 23rd November, 2007 at the Esporta Health & Fitness Club, Cardiff.

Presenter Biographies:

Sara Wicebloom
Is a Senior Course Director for Later Life Training and has delivered training on their behalf throughout the UK, as well as in Europe. She works on a range of referral schemes for specialist populations, including GP referral and cardiac rehab, as well as coordinating the community falls prevention programme in Islington, North London.
With YMCAfit, Sara helped develop the first training course for exercise with disabled people and now works as training co-ordinator to the Inclusive Fitness Initiative.
Sara is co-owner of Yoga Professionals, which delivers courses leading to the new L3 Certificate in Teaching Yoga.

Marie Stopforth
Trained as a fitness instructor with Future Fit in 1999. She then combined working in the profession with studying, and gained a 1st Class Honours degree in Sport and Exercise Science from University of Chichester in 2002. Since graduating, she has been working towards a PhD in Sport & Exercise Psychology, and is currently writing her thesis for submission. She returned to Future Fit in 2005, and has been working as a tutor for them for the past 2 ½ years. She also works as a Senior Lecturer at Southampton Solent University where she teaches on their Health, Fitness and Personal Training Degrees Programmes.

Gwen Strong RGN, DN, CPT MSc
After qualifying as a District Nurse, Gwen worked in Harrow until moving to High Wycombe in 1988 where she has worked ever since. She set up and ran the Community Cardiac Rehab services in South Bucks in 1990, combining her cardiac and community nursing experience and liaised with the exercise specialists who are involved in both Phase III and IV classes. She has an MSc in Cardio-respiratory Nursing. She has served on the BACR Phase IV development group since its inception in 1995 and is part of the BACR Steering Committee. Gwen is Phase IV Regional Course Director together with Lesley Simpson for the Thames Valley Region.
Although she took early retirement from her NHS post this year Gwen is still actively involved in working with BACR Phase IV training and her local cardiac rehab services
