REPs CPD Programme
Keeping your skills and knowledge up to date as an Exercise Professional and member of the Register is important. To
progress your career, and to deliver the services your clients expect and demand you must be a member of the Register who
takes personal development seriously. We call it CPD – Continuing Professional Development - and some requirements are
considered “mandatory” for the purposes of re-registration.
When you first join the Register the status awarded to you is often referred to as your “licence to practise” but at the
time of re-registration you need to demonstrate that you continue to be “fit to practise”.
Personal or professional development should be complimentary to how you want to develop your own career and is seen as an
important principle of professionalising the industry. Members must be able to demonstrate that they remain in good
‘professional standing’ by engaging in appropriate CPD activities – and ones which can be reasonably audited and validated
by REPs office personnel at the time of re-registration.
Following industry consultation, the requirements of the REPs continuing professional development programme (CPD) have
been revised and will start to come into effect from 1st April 2006. There will be transitional arrangements in place
until 31st December 2006 and when these new programme standards should be fully operational. It is the responsibility
of each member to keep a log-book record of achievement (CPD practice), and this can either be done on-line within each
member’s individual personal record through the REPs Website –
click here or in hard copy format (supplied by the
Register).
All records must be available for verification by the REPs compliance officer.
